BoB was naturally only partly installed, couldn't be uninstalled (because that gets added last) and left me with a mess in the registry. It was unable to access a file and when clicking away this message, I got dumped back to desktop. Ok, as promised (is anyone reading it anyway?) I'll share some observations:ġ) Trying to install under Win2k resulted in the installer stalling at 83%. In the meantime I am hoping to learn what else could be done. Tonight I will jsut move the whole MA directory one drive letter down, repeat the patch process and see if that cures the problem. No joy, as expected it looks for a file in E: (which is correct under Win98) although Win2k really expects MA to be located on the F: partition. Subsequently I applied the BDG patch over it an run it. the third partition), booting Win2k and installing the 1.23 patch over it, hoping that it would adjust the registry properly. What I did was running Win98SE and install MA into E: (under Win98, i.e. The ZIP drive is set to unbootable device in the BIOS and I have no idea why it insists on being D:Įven though I have found out how to change the drive lettering now I am unwilling to do so because that would essentially require to re-install Win2k. Win2k sees itself sitting in the G: partition, not F: as Win98SE sees it. Win2k lives on the F: partition, BUT for some reason when booting into Win2k suddenly the ZIP drive is D: with all subsequent partitions being shifted one letter, e.g. Example: My Win98SE partition is C: and the next two partitions are reserved for stuff which is not related to work, amongst other stuff all my simulations are installed there. It goes through to 80% or so and then breaks off with an error message (which I have at home).Īn additional problem is, when I install from Win98SE the drive letters are different from those as seen by Win2k. Installing under Win2k is impossible for me to begin with.
